Auburn Busted Arrest Records
Every Auburn arrest creates two paper trails. The Auburn Police Department writes the original report when its officers make the stop. Once an adult lands in county custody, Placer County Sheriff's staff take over: they check the paperwork, log identifying details and charges, handle any warrants, and open a jail booking record. The city's Placer County busted records hub starts the trail, but two county tools finish it. CitizenRIMS shows Auburn's arrest activity at the city level. ATIMS answers the custody question, confirming whether someone sits in a Placer jail right now. Superior Court records then tell you what prosecutors filed and how the case resolved.
Auburn counted an estimated 13,780 residents on July 1, 2024. As the Placer County seat, it earns its City Map slot ahead of larger Lincoln. Proximity makes Auburn Jail the usual stop for adults arrested by APD. Treat that as a tendency, not a rule. South Placer Jail shares the county system, placements shift, and ATIMS remains the controlling word on where a person is held.
Auburn Busted CitizenRIMS Search
Auburn stands alone among mapped Placer cities in one respect. It is the only one with a confirmed, city-hosted Arrests link. The Auburn Crime Data page splits its material three ways. Calls for Service, Crime Reports, and Arrests each get their own lane, and visitors are routed into CitizenRIMS or CrimeGraphics. That split matters. An arrest record is not the same as a reported incident or a dispatch call, and mixing them leads people astray.
Set expectations carefully. The public landing promises no fixed look-back window, no archive depth, and no exact refresh schedule. No booking photo either. The interface covers APD activity only, not sheriff events or the county's current jail population. Treat it as the official city event source, then confirm any adult booking through ATIMS. For a visual, the official Auburn Police CitizenRIMS interface shows the real search screen.
No booking face is rehosted here. The screenshot simply marks the legitimate city search starting point, while county custody and court records complete the picture.
Where Auburn Mugshots Appear
Auburn gives residents more official city arrest visibility than Roseville or Rocklin offer. Even so, each channel answers a different question. Start with official sources. News pages and commercial mugshot sites come second, and each carries clear limits.
| Channel | Photo? | Scope and caution |
|---|---|---|
| Auburn CitizenRIMS | Not promised | Official APD arrest and activity interface, not county custody |
| PCSO Who's In Custody | No current web image | Official Auburn and South Placer jail custody |
| PCSO 10-day log wrapper | Unverified | Official recent-event window; report endpoint required login when checked |
| Superior Court access | No mugshot search | Official filed charge, hearing, and disposition source |
| Auburn Journal police logs | Usually text | Unofficial recurring journalism, not a complete arrest ledger |
| RecentlyBooked Placer | Claims images | Unofficial commercial page with uncertain provenance and current accuracy |
| Mugshots.com archive | Historical | Unofficial older county archive, not a current feed |
Local Crime News provides one more historical PCSO index worth checking. Beyond that, the pickings thin out. No local Placer section was confirmed for Arrests.org, Busted Newspaper, or Mugshots.zone. So treat those directories as Auburn sources with caution.
Finding Busted Auburn Bookings
Open with the city interface for an APD event. For custody, shift to county data. Someone cited, released, transferred, or routed outside adult jail may never appear on the current roster at all. Search with specific identifiers and jot down when you searched.
- Check Auburn CitizenRIMS under the Arrests view. Do not confuse the separate calls-for-service and crime-report views with a jail roster.
- Open Who's In Custody, pass the CAPTCHA, and search by booking number when known or by name and date of birth.
- Compare name, age, sex, commit date, arresting agency, status, and booking number. Read the facility field instead of assuming Auburn Jail.
- For a recent release, try the sheriff's rolling 10-day window. If its hosted report remains blocked by authentication, request the APD report and PCSO booking record.
- Carry the docket or case number into Placer Superior Court to learn what was filed and the recorded outcome.
ATIMS takes last, first, and middle names. Date of birth works too, as does gender, inmate number, or booking number. Results can include facility placement, booking and expected release dates, charges, total and per-charge bail, holds, arresting agency, court department, docket, and booking status. One thing is missing: a public image. The Placer County busted mugshots hub extends the work with full roster, booking-feed, state-prison, and federal lookups.
Note: A released detail may remain linked for roughly 24 hours, but that short web behavior is neither a feed nor a retention schedule.
Auburn Police Arrest Requests
The Auburn Police Records page posts one request form for several products: arrest records, calls for service, crime or incident reports, collision reports, and photographs. General requests can go to records@auburn.ca.gov. A word of caution, though. A form that lists photographs does not promise release of a booking image. Eligibility rules, requester identity, statutory exemptions, and which agency holds the image all shape the answer.
Auburn also has one unusual routing rule. The form states that an arrestee seeking an arrest report must get it from the District Attorney, not the police counter. Describe the record you want and let APD decide on release. County booking data stays with PCSO, and the criminal case file lives at Superior Court.
- Identify the APD report type, number, date, and location, then complete the city form.
- If the requester is the arrestee seeking the arrest report, follow Auburn's direction to the District Attorney.
- Send a separate, focused booking-record request to the PCSO PRA portal.
- Use the court case number for filed documents and disposition.

Auburn Busted Record Costs
Auburn publishes clearer local fees than the other mapped city departments. A police report costs $5 flat. The detailed schedule prices reports of up to ten pages at $5, then adds $0.10 per extra page. Photograph reproduction runs at actual cost. Remember what these figures cover: city police records, not a PCSO booking photo.
| APD item | Published amount |
|---|---|
| Police report or incident, up to ten pages | $5 |
| Each page after ten | $0.10 |
| Photograph reproduction | Actual cost |
PCSO draws its own line on photos. Another person's booking photograph is exempt, while the subject can request their own in person at a jail with government ID. Auburn's city fee schedule cannot override that county policy. No city turnaround time is promised.
When Auburn Bookings Post
A city arrest can hit the web before the county wraps its paperwork. Clerks at the Placer County Sheriff's Office interview the person and review documents. They enter the data and clear any linked warrants. That takes time. The sheriff calls ATIMS its most current source but promises no fixed window between intake and posting. A brand-new Auburn arrest rarely shows up instantly.
CitizenRIMS shows activity while ATIMS comes up empty? Check the name spelling and exact date first. Then weigh the other causes. It might be a citation instead of a booking. It could be a quick release, juvenile handling, a transfer, or a simple identity mismatch. Juvenile records follow separate access rules and never land on the adult roster. For a stubborn adult case, APD Records and PCSO each keep their own files and can search them for you.
Auburn Busted Jail Routing
Auburn Jail still runs at 2775 Richardson Drive. An older minimum-security site from the World War II era shut down when staffing moved south. South Placer Jail grew from a capacity project that began in 2008. Work wrapped up largely by 2012, and the facility opened in phases across fiscal 2013-14. PCSO Corrections now oversees both.
This two-jail history explains a common mix-up. "Booked in Auburn" and "held at Auburn Jail" are not the same thing. APD makes the city arrest. PCSO handles the booking. Where a person lands can shift, so read the live facility field or call the jail directly. After release, hold onto the booking number and use the formal records process. A link that vanishes does not mean the record vanished with it.
Auburn Arrest News Trail
Need a steady police log? The Auburn Journal from Gold Country Media is the best local bet. It draws on APD and sheriff records, mostly in text form rather than a full photo collection. The Sacramento Bee covers major Auburn and Placer County cases that deserve wider attention. Both are selective journalism. Neither works as a live custody system.
RecentlyBooked advertises a rotating Placer inventory with images, though its claimed sourcing is hard to square with PCSO's current no-release rule. Mugshots.com carries older Auburn labels in an archive that no longer updates. A commercial or news item can linger long after custody ends or charges shift. Trace anything back to APD, PCSO, or Superior Court. The wider source landscape and the story-to-record process sit on the Placer County Crime News page.
